How to Add Music to Instagram Stories
Add Music and Lyrics to Your Instagram Stories!

In summer 2018, Instagram announced that they’ll add yet another interesting sticker to their arsenal. This time, it was the Music Sticker.

The Music Sticker works on both videos and photos. On top of that, its music library is huge! You can find almost all the popular songs from different genres and you’re bound to find a song in their library that fits your current mood.

You can easily add different soundtracks to your Instagram story by following our tutorial.

Adding Music to Your Instagram Stories

If you want to use the Instagram Music feature you need to update your Instagram app to its latest version.

After you’ve updated your Instagram application it is time to test this neat feature out.

First, you’ll need to open your Instagram Stories. You can do that by tapping on the Camera icon, found in the upper-left corner on Instagram’s main feed page.

Take a video or a photo and tap the Music icon, located at the top of your screen. If you don’t have the Music icon, tap on the Stickers button and look for this feature.

That will open the Instagram’s Music library, which currently contains thousands of popular songs. You can search for the song that you want by typing its name into the Search Music bar.

There are also three main categories you can use to filter songs: Popular, Moods, and Genres.

You can tap the Popular category to view the trending soundtracks.

Tap on Moods if you want to find happy, sad, energetic, or some other songs based on your current mood.

If you’re up for some rock music, or some other genre, choose the Genres category to browse for your ideal Instagram Story song.

If you come across a song that you haven’t heard before, you can preview it in Instagram’s Music library. Simply tap the Play button next to the song, and it will start playing.

Since Instagram Stories only last a few seconds, the Music Sticker feature allows you to cut a song and choose a specific part.

For example, you may want to include the chorus section from Guns and Roses’ hit Live and Let Die. To do so, find the song in Instagram’s Music library and select it. After that, you’ll be able to fast-forward and rewind the song to find its chorus section.

The Music Sticker feature also allows you to select how long your soundtrack will play for. The maximum duration is 15 seconds.

If the lyrics are available for the song that you’ve selected, they will automatically pop up on your screen.

Before you upload your story, make sure to select how your Music Sticker looks. You can do that by tapping the Music Sticker before publishing it.

Finally, your followers will be able to find out more about the artist whose song is playing in your story by tapping on the lyrics.

Instagram’s Music Sticker Isn’t Available in All Countries

The only downside to this feature is that it isn’t available in all countries. It is available to users from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, New Zealand, and Sweden.

If you live in a country that isn’t on the list, you won’t even see this feature in your Sticker collection. Besides that, you won’t be able to listen to soundtracks that people who have this feature posted.

Instagram Music Library Has Stopped Working

There are a few things you can do if your Instagram Music Library stops working.

First of all, restart your Instagram application. You can do that by navigating to your smartphone’s Apps through Settings. Locate Instagram and manually stop it. This will close all of its instances.

After that, re-launch Instagram the regular way and check if the feature works normally.

If you encounter error messages again and still can’t use this feature, check if there’s a new Instagram update available. It is always advised that you keep Instagram updated. That’s because fixes for the most common bugs come in the form of updates.

In case you’ve tried everything and nothing solved your problem, try contacting Instagram’s Help Center.
