Home Social Media TikTok How To Change the Language in TikTok
If you’re new to Tik Tok and are just figuring out how the app and social network operates, you’re not alone. TechJunkie receives questions all the time about the app that took over from Music.ly, about creating a profile, uploading video and all that good stuff. Today I’m going to show you how to change the default language in Tik Tok. I’ll also show you how to edit your entire profile too, just in case.
Tik Tok is available in 38 languages and while the installation should pick up your default device language, it doesn’t always get it right. That’s the only time I can imagine you needing to change your language in Tik Tok. As the answer is so very short, I’ll also walk you through changing other aspects of your Tik Tok profile.
If you need to change the default language in Tik Tok, you can. As long as you can understand, or at least figure out, the process if the language it installed isn’t one you know, you should be fine.
To change the language, do this:
As far as I can tell, every version of Tik Tok uses the same naming convention. So if you Google Translate Display Settings and Languages to find the words, you should be able to figure it all out.
Tik Tok seems to be one of the few social networks that lets you freely change your username. Usually, once you create an account you’re stuck with the name. That’s fine if you put some thought into it but if you set a name you now think is dumb, you can change it.
From within this page you can also change your nickname, Instagram, YouTube and other accounts and add a profile description. A profile description isn’t always necessary but if you want to engage with people you don’t know and perhaps make a little money from the app, the more information you provide, the better.
Change your profile image in Tik Tok
You can use an image from within Tik Tok or upload one from your phone. Either way, the selection opens up a file browser and you can navigate to whatever image you want to use.
You can also use a video instead of a photo if you want to. As Tik Tok is primarily a video app, this might work better for you. Just select Profile Video instead of Profile Photo and add or change it there.
One change you may need to make more often is to the password. You should always use a secure password but social networks are always under attack from hackers so it’s a good idea to know how to quickly change yours should you need to.
If you need to change your password from outside the app, you can.
Social networks like Tik Tok are only as secure as your account details. You cannot do much about a hack of the network itself but you can protect your account by using a tough password. Make it as complicated as you can while still being memorable. I always suggest using a passphrase instead of a single word as they are equally memorable but much more complicated to guess, brute force or otherwise crack.
That’s about it for your options to modify your Tik Tok profile. It’s a simple setup with limited scope but contains enough information for people to get to know you if they want to.
Know of any other profile tweaks we can make to Tik Tok to make it cooler/easier/more appealing? Tell us about them below if you do!
