Does Bumble Notify the other Person When You Extend?

Whenever there’s a pool of people pursuing roughly the same goal online, the platform in question will organize a way to make the best of it, in the monetary sense.

Now, don’t get us wrong, the various boosts and premium versions of apps do have their purpose in the real world, it’s just that the user who fancies stuffing their sleeves full of these aces, so to speak, typically have to pay for them.

Nothing wrong about this, of course, but since there is money involved in this process of reaching a new level on a social media platform, the folks who are ready to go that extra line would like to know what these so-called boosts and super duper points bring them in return! (And how effective will it be once they go on board with it.)

Well, in this article, we’ll talk about Bumble – the dating app that’s been praised as a feminist version of Tinder. To be more precise, we’ll talk about one of the features you get with Bumble Boost – the Extend thingy, and we’ll answer the question – Does Bumble Notify the Other User When You Extend Your Match with them?

As you may already know, Bumble’s Extend is a feature that enables a user to literally extend their match with someone for 24 hours. (Which added to the original 24-hour period makes a grand total of two days to crank-start the sparks flyin’!)

For the record, ‘Extend’ is available to both the basic free accounts and the boosted ones. The only difference is that with a basic account you get one ‘Extend’ per day, while with the advanced version you can extend connections to your heart’s content!

Alright then, let’s see what’s going on here!

How to Extend a Match

As we mentioned above, free users of Bumble can extend one match per day. Mind you, once you’ve extended a match, you can’t extend that same match tomorrow as it starts to expire.

In fact, every user, no matter if they’re using the free account or one that is boosted, will only be able to extend a single match once. The difference between Bumble Boost users and regular users, however, would be that regular users get only one match per day, while their boosted counterparts can pursue this activity multiple times! (Meaning on several different matches.)

The idea behind the Extend is to give the people who are busy more time to start a conversation, as well as to show someone that you care enough for them to extend your match for them.

Now, other than this main purpose, the reasons why people use matches and more importantly, how they react to them may vary significantly!

Different Ways to Look at Extensions

While most people seem to view the ‘Extend’ feature as a purely practical tool to give someone more time to set the game afoot, others have a rather different opinion about the whole deal. Here are three different scenarios on how users see the ‘Extend’ feature:

  1. Purely Practical – And by ‘purely practical’, we mostly mean that some folks don’t consider ‘Extend’ as Bumble’s version of Tinder’s Super Like. If you look at it like this, the deal is simple – busy people need more time to figure out with whom to start a conversation. Simple, isn’t it?
  2. Creepy and Cringe-Worthy – Weeell, not so simple after all. Turns out, some women (because women are in control when it comes to starting a conversation on Bumble) consider the ‘Extend’ feature a decidedly creepy one. Namely, this train of thought decimates a woman’s expectations since having your match extended means the guy is desperate to get in contact with you. A pretty big turnoff as well, apparently!
  3. Heart-Warming and Respect-Deserving – On the exact opposite end of the scale, there are women who consider their match getting extended for them is a sign of commitment and flattery. (As if it couldn’t possibly get more confusing!)

Now, some say these women are just after attention and the so-called ego-boost – and who knows, perhaps this makes sense, as well.

So, Does Bumble Notify the Other User When You Extend Their Match?

To be blunt, YES it does! One of the notifications that Bumble organizes for their users is the one that informs you when your match gets extended!

So, there you have it, folks! Your potential hookup will see if you extended your match with them! The only thing that remains to see is how they’ll react to it, which is a bit of a gamble. But, potentially, loads of fun! We hope you found this article helpful and wish you plenty of luck with your Bumble adventures! (Extended edition, no less!)
