Is Tinder Gold Worth It? Here's What you Get

Tinder Gold is the next-highest user tier after Tinder Plus. Subscribing to Gold comes with plenty of new additions, but whether or not they’re game-changing features is up for debate.

There are many pros and cons to this new membership tier because a lot of the features have limited usefulness and therefore might not be worth the money for all users. Keep in mind that there are plenty of Tinder users that still stick to the basic plan, so obviously you can find your match without using fancy features.

Here is what you can expect from upgrading to Tinder Gold.

Unlimited Swipes

A Gold subscription allows you to swipe as much as you want. This should come in handy to a lot of people. Whether you’re impatient or you just don’t have the time, being able to swipe freely whenever you get a chance is something worth considering.

Another cool addition here is the ability to swipe right on a number of profiles at the same time if you’re using the Likes You grid. This can be a massive time-saver for users with busy lives.

On the other hand, for judicious swipers, this feature is hardly worth the extra cost.

Super Likes and Boosts

You get five super likes per day as a Gold member, but are these super likes really worth anything? Super liking a profile won’t put you on that person’s radar any more than a regular like. Although this feature is advertised as a shortcut to matchmaking, it doesn’t really work like that.

What if the other person doesn’t super like you back? Just because you put in a super like doesn’t mean you don’t have to put in the same amount of work to establish a connection just like a basic account holder would.

Boosts, on the other hand, are a nice addition. Once you tap the boost button, you’ll notice more matches. The cool thing about it is that with boosting you’re able to send your profile to the top of someone’s list. Unlike super likes, this is definitely a way to get noticed quickly.

Rewinds

If you’re in the habit of swiping at lightning speed, then upgrading to a Gold membership may come in handy. The rewind feature allows you to go back if you accidentally swiped on a profile you liked. However, keep in mind that this only lets you go back one swipe and not more.

While this feature is certainly useful, not everyone will find it worth the investment. If you don’t tend to make quick decisions and you take your time when swiping, then paying for the rewind feature doesn’t make sense. Besides, just because you go back and correct your mistake doesn’t mean that you’ll automatically get a right swipe back.

The feature is a nice idea and it makes sense that a lot of people would pay for it, but it seems to offer too little. It has amazing potential, but it would have been nice to see the ability to rewind a couple of swipes instead of just one.

Check Your Swipes

Normally you don’t get to see if the person you’re about to swipe right on also swiped right on you. However, with Tinder Gold, you can do just that.

It doesn’t seem like much, but people who are weary and cautious may find this feature particularly interesting.

Other Features

Although we have covered the most advertised features, there are some other changes that might just make Tinder Gold more valuable. For one, if you don’t want to see any ads, the Gold membership keeps your experience clean.

You also get a daily top five matches selection through the Tinder Picks feature. Although the app is all about getting people together, Tinder Gold also allows you to use the passport feature. This lets you hide your age and your distance, which may be useful if you want to take a break or be more selective with your matches.

Final Word

Although Tinder Gold comes with some extra perks, not everyone will think it’s a step up from Tinder Plus. Most of the new features are quite situation-specific, so whether or not they’re worth the money is a matter of personal preference.

Another minor downside is the fact that Tinder Gold is only available on iOS. It will be a while until it’s also available on Android, but for some folks, this may actually be a blessing in disguise. Android users can test out the Gold membership on a friend’s iOS device and decide ahead of time if it is worth the extra money.
