TikTok is a social media app that has taken off like a rocket in the last two years. 2019 was a particularly amazing year for TikTok. Do you remember Vine? Well, TikTok is like a reinvention of that, but with a lot more features to play with.

TikTok users can share 15 or 60-second videos of themselves doing pretty much anything. The scope of what’s possible is endless. As with all other social media apps, you can follow other users and leave comments. As well as search for hashtags and verified accounts. Actually, nearly half of Tiktok users are between the ages of 16 and 24. And to be able to use this app, you only have to be 12 years or older, so a lot of the users are under-16-year-old kids.

The point is, older people are more likely to be intimidated by it. The fear of the unknown and all. Baby boomers, Gen X, and older millennials might shy away from this very performative social media app in favor of cynical humor and political threads on Twitter. This is a young person’s playground and Gen Z rules it.

Odds are all of us can lip-sync to at least one song perfectly. Whether it’s in the shower or on the bus wearing a pair of headphones, it allows us to take on the role of the singer and maybe put our own spin on it.

If you’re on TikTok, you’ve got to get lip-syncing. It’s like the law of the land over there. But, how exactly would you go about making a lip-syncing video on TikTok? This is what you do:

Step 1

Open the Tik Tok app and tap the “+” button which enables you to make a new video.


Step 2

Go back to the recording screen. On the right side of the screen, there’s an icon with a musical note and a pair of scissors. Clicking on that will let you choose which part of the song you want to use. Then press the check button and you’ll go back to the previous screen.

Now, hold the red button. TikTok will play the chosen song and record your “performance” at the same time. After you are done, you can go back and edit to your heart’s content.

Step 5

When you let go of the red recording button, you’ll see a preview of your video. You’ll see the musical note button at the top of the screen again.

Step 6

Press the musical note and you’ll be able to tweak the sound and your lip movements to make it perfect.

Easy and Fun

TikTok users are quick to pick up on all the details and features the app has to offer. It’s not hard to understand why it has captured the attention of so many people, especially youngsters. It provides a perfect outlet for that youthful expression and freedom. And it does the same for those in their 30s and 40s too, especially the ones who retain their musical and creative side, which TikTok certainly capitalizes on.

TikTok is great fun, but it’s also proved to be a social media giant. Its quick rise to the top matches the enthusiasm people have for it. Music never goes out fashion, and we do live in an era of sharing. Surely, they’ll keep adding more features that will solidify users’ interest. We’ll see.
