Home Social Media Instagram How To Login to Multiple Instagram Accounts
Instagram is a great way to connect with friends, family, colleagues, and customers. With so many different reasons to have an Instagram account, it’s no wonder you might want to try on many hats and appeal to a variety of audiences.
However, you’ll lose followers if you try too hard to please everyone. Although it may seem overly complicated, you should consider creating and tending to multiple Instagram accounts to serve your varied interests.
Lucky for you, Instagram has acknowledged this need and makes it easy for users to create and switch between up to five different accounts.
Before you can add a new account to your roster, you need to create it. Assuming you already have one account set up, log in to that account and do the following:
Now you are logged in to your new account. Note that you can’t access your other posts and followers when logged in under this account.
Creating multiple logins is only part of the puzzle. Once the login has been created, it’s time to link it to your other accounts. This will make it easier to switch between accounts without having to re-enter your login information.
Using this method, you are able to connect up to five different accounts to the same Instagram app.
If you have push notifications enabled for your existing account, then you’ll notice little updates regarding likes, followers, and more.
But how do you know which account these notifications are linked to?
According to Instagram, you’ll receive push notifications for any account that has them enabled. Just make sure you don’t get them confused. Enable push notifications with the following steps:
Once you’ve created and linked your accounts you can easily switch between the profiles. The Instagram app makes it really simple to do this; tap your profile icon in the lower right-hand corner.
Next, tap on your username at the top of the screen. Then, tap on the account you’d like to manage.
If you’re using the Desktop site to manage your two (or more) accounts, there’s no simple switch option like the app version. So what can you do if you need to swap accounts?
The first thing you’ll need to do is click on your profile icon and click the option to logout. Confirm that you’d like to logout of your account. Next, tap the ‘Switch Accounts‘ option at the bottom of the web page.
Login using the credentials to the account you’d like to manage. From now on your account will be saved to the web page. When you visit Instagram on that web browser you simply click ‘Log In’ on whichever account you need to access.
While you can link multiple Instagram accounts to a single phone number or email, be careful. This could present problems if you ever need to recover one of those accounts.
If Instagram is confused about which account you’re trying to access, then it might only allow you to reset the password for one account while you’re trying to access another. For this reason, users are advised to use a unique account setup email or phone number for each Instagram account.
Removing an account from your lineup is easy, and it won’t permanently delete the account in case you ever want to add it back. The account will remain active for followers who still want access to your post history.
You can also choose Log Out of All Accounts if you’re looking to do some spring cleaning.
Deleting an account is also relatively easy, at least by Facebook standards, but a word of caution. This will permanently remove all of the posts, comments, and followers associated with that account.
You can’t perform this action from inside the Instagram app.
Instagram lets users have up to 5 Instagram accounts under one email address. Whether you want a personal account, you’re an influencer, and perhaps you’re managing someone else’s accounts, you can do so easily by signing into all of them at once.
When one needs updated, all you need to do is tap the profile icon at the bottom of the app and tap on account list at the top.
One question plaguing people about Instagram’s multiple accounts feature is whether you have to log in using the same email address. Fortunately, you can log in with multiple email addresses in one app.
Based on our tests in December of 2020, all you need to do is follow the steps above, sign in using the other email address and password, and you’re good to go.
