How to Reset Your Bumble Account!

Like Tinder, Bumble has become an incredibly popular dating app for people looking to make connections with others in their area. However, if you’re having trouble finding matches or simply want a fresh start, you might be interested in resetting your account.

While it might not be immediately clear how to do this, resetting your Bumble account is pretty straightforward. By following a few simple steps you can wipe the slate clean and start over.

With that being said, here’s how you can reset your Bumble account.

Put Your Bumble Account in Snooze Mode

Before resetting your account and losing all of your existing matches, it might be better to consider putting your account into Snooze mode. This makes your profile invisible so that you can take a break from the app and return whenever you’re ready.

Follow these steps to activate this feature:

  1. Open the Bumble app.
  2. Tap the Profile icon in the top left-hand corner.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Snooze mode.
  5. Choose how long you want to Snooze your account.

You can choose to snooze your account for a preset amount of time, or if you’re not sure when you’ll return, you can choose ‘Indefinitely’ and reactivate your account whenever you feel comfortable.

How to Reset Your Bumble Account

The upside to resetting your Bumble account is it wipes the slate clean. You can use new images, a new bio, or even a new Facebook account to connect with new matches in your area. To reset your Bumble account, you need to delete it and then create a new one.

Before you get started, note that Bumble does not like it if you reset your account too frequently. It will display a brief message prior to deleting your account that tells you as much. According to Bumble, those who frequently do a hard reset or who reinstall the app immediately after uninstalling, will not have their profile shown to others as frequently.

With that in mind, here’s how to reset your account.

Disconnect Your Facebook Account

First, you’ll need to disconnect your Facebook account from your Bumble account.

To do this on a mobile device, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Facebook.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Account Settings.
  3. Select Apps and Websites > Logged in with Facebook.
  4. Select Bumble > Remove app.
  5. Confirm by tapping Remove.

To do this from a desktop, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Facebook.
  2. Select Settings from the triangle dropdown in the upper right corner of the browser window.
  3. Select Apps and Websites from the menu on the left.
  4. Select Bumble.
  5. Click on the Remove app at the very bottom of the dialog and confirm.

Once your Facebook account has been disconnected, you may or may not need to manually delete your account on  Bumble. Go into Bumble on your phone or desktop and see if the account still exists. If it does, you’ll need to delete it by hand.

Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Open up your Bumble app.
  2. Tap the Profile icon in the top left-hand corner.
  3. Select Settings and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Select Delete account.
  5. Select the reason you are deleting your account.
  6. Tap Delete account.

This will delete your Bumble account completely. To make sure there is no cached data from Bumble, uninstall the app on your phone. Now your Bumble account is properly and completely deleted.

Creating a New Account

To reset your account, you’ll need to start over on Bumble. According to those who have reset their accounts multiple times, it is best to wait 24 hours to make absolutely sure that Bumble isn’t monitoring your IP address.

After 24 hours have passed, redownload Bumble from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and install it. If you want to improve your chances with a better set of images or bio, or you’ve made changes to your Facebook information such as city or career, make those changes in Facebook first. If you just want a second round with the same information, go ahead and set up Bumble without making any changes on Facebook.

  1. Open the Bumble app on your phone.
  2. Set up your profile and link it to your Facebook account.
  3. Set up your Bumble profile.
  4. Start swiping!

Setting Up a New Bumble Account: Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips to keep in mind to improve your experience on Bumble.

Adjust Filters

Bumble has multiple filter options to make it easier to find good matches. These filters include:

  • Education level
  • Height
  • Exercise frequency
  • Drinking status
  • Smoking status
  • Religion
  • Children
  • Zodiac signs
  • Politics
  • Type of relationship desired

These filters will help narrow down your options and match with people that have similar interests and lifestyles.

Profile Prompts

Another recent Bumble feature is the addition of Profile Prompts — discussion starters that Bumble has added to everyone’s profile. You can choose up to three profile prompts from a longer list, with subjects like, “I feel most empowered when…” and “We’ll get along if…” which you fill in to complete the sentence.

This information shows up on your profile and gives your potential matches a quick insight into your personality and sense of humor. Choose prompts for which you have good answers and make those answers shine.

Add your Spotify

Bumble lets you link to your Spotify account, and doing so is a great way to find matches with similar taste in music. A shared love of a band or genre isn’t quite an automatic match, but for a lot of people, it’s darn close to one.

Add your Instagram

Bumble also lets you link your Instagram account to your Bumble account. This lets potential matches find you on social media and learn more about whether or not you might be a good match.

Verify your account

Account verification is quick, easy, and free. With the amount of spam, catfishing, phishing, and outright scamming that occurs on apps like Bumble, many users won’t swipe right on accounts that aren’t verified.

All you have to do is take a couple of selfies and send them to Bumble for approval. After doing so, your profile will indicate that you are a verified user.

Final Thoughts

Resetting your Bumble account is a great way to get a fresh start and find new, higher-quality matches. By unlinking your Facebook account and creating a new Bumble profile, you can increase your chances of finding your ideal match!
