Facebook is a powerful advertising tool, and it not just for personal use. Follower count is one of the best metrics you can use to see how successful your business page is.

If you wish to see who your followers are on Facebook, you are in the right place. Keep reading and find out about your followers on your personal Facebook and your pages.

See Your Facebook Followers

Followers are people who haven’t “friended” you on Facebook, but they can still see your posts. If your Facebook profile is public, you can have followers. If it is private, you can’t. Follow the steps below to check your Facebook followers (accounts for personal use):

  1. Sign in to Facebook.com or launch the designated app on your phone. Facebook is more or less the same on Android and iOS devices.
  2. Click on your profile page (tap your name at the top-left, or the top-right of the screen).
  3. Next, click on the Friends tab.
  4. If you have followers, you should see a tab labeled Followers under your Friends tab.

  5. Click on the Followers tab.
  6. You can see all your Facebook followers here. Next to their names, you have the option to add them as friends.

Besides the Add Friend option, you should see all mutual connections with this person, if you have any. It can help you determine why they are your followers and how they know you.

See Your Facebook Page Followers

Besides your profile followers, you can also see the list of your page followers. When someone likes a page on Facebook, they automatically start following it. It is a mechanism Facebook introduced to keep people updated with their interests.

There’s also an option to follow a page, even if you don’t “like” it. You can easily unfollow a page if you don’t want it in your Facebook feed. You just need to visit a page, click on Following, and select Unfollow.

Since our example is none other than the TechJunkie Facebook page, we hope that you reconsider your decision.

Finally, here is how to see your Facebook page followers:

  1. Sign in to your Facebook page (not your regular account).
  2. Select the Settings menu.
  3. Then, choose People and Other Pages.
  4. Click on the dropdown menu above the list of the people who liked your page.
  5. Select the People Who Follow This Page option.

You can see the list of people that like your page, but not all of them. Some people make their profiles private, so not everyone can see their name on their page.

Facebook Insights

Besides checking the follower list for your page, you can also see the Insights page for a more detailed view of your followers. Follow the instructions to get some insight from Facebook:

  1. Log into your Facebook page account.
  2. Select the Insights menu.
  3. Next, tap the Followers tab.

The Insights overview is convenient as it provides more details about your followers on Facebook. You’ll see how you got the followers, how many of them you have, who unfollowed you, how your page has grown over time, the demographics of people that follow you, etc.

Insights are a fantastic tool if you run a serious business through Facebook. Social media is crucial for marketing these days, with Facebook and Instagram leading the way.

Adjust Facebook Follower Settings

Some people don’t like the idea of having a public profile on Facebook. If you want to remove the following option for strangers on your profile, here is what you need to do:

  1. Log into your Facebook account.
  2. Tap the dropdown arrow in the upper-right corner of the screen and choose Settings.
  3. Select Public Posts from the list of items to the left.
  4. Tap the dropdown option near the top of your screen. Select Friends if you don’t want anyone else following you.

You can revert this option to Public any time you want, just follow the same steps.

Personal vs Business Facebook

The number of followers is pretty relevant if you have a business page on Facebook. People don’t usually follow other people, and it makes more sense to add someone as a friend.

Is your profile private, or do you let strangers follow you? If you have a business page, what is your ratio of likes to follows? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
