How to Send an Instagram Link
Instagram definitely has no shortage of features that enable you to stay in touch with the online world. You can share everything from pictures and videos to text and voice messages.
But, what about links?
Surely there has to be a way of sharing links to individual posts and profiles, right?
Luckily, there is, but it’s not as obvious as you might expect it to be. As a result, many users don’t really understand how to share Instagram links.
If you want to discover all the options at your disposal, just keep reading.
Fetching Instagram Links
The way of sharing links on Instagram is very simple. You just have to know where to look. Here’s how to get a link of an Instagram post:
- Scroll to the post that you want to share and tap the three-dot icon at the top-right corner.
- Tap Copy Link.
You can paste the link anywhere you want, be it an Instagram DM, another messaging app, or anywhere else. Another thing that you can do is tap Share to… which will immediately open the list of available apps that you can send the link through.
If you’re wondering how to do the same for users’ profiles, you’ll be glad to know that it works the exact same way. All you have to do is:
- Go to a user’s profile.
- Tap the three-dot button.
- Tap Copy Profile URL.
As far as your own profile goes, it’s super-easy to find out what your URL is. Every account on Instagram has the same URL pattern:
Just add the username you chose after the Instagram’s URL, and you’ll have your own link.
Sending Instagram Links on Desktop
Copying a URL from the desktop version of Instagram is much easier than from within the mobile app. The reason for this is that the URL is clearly visible in your browser’s address bar. Simply navigate to the profile or a post that you want to share, then copy a URL that you see in the address bar, and paste it wherever you want it.
You can do this for all posts and profiles, no matter if they’re private or not. Keep in mind, though, that the person you send the URL to won’t be able to see the profile or any of its content if it’s set to private.
Adding Links to Posts and Stories
Many users would also love the ability to link out to different pages from their Instagram posts. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible. You can copy a link to your post’s description, but it won’t be clickable.
The only way to include a clickable link in your post is to run a paid promotion. For this, you’ll need a business account. It will allow you to add CTA (Call to Action) buttons and links to your sponsored posts.
As for the Stories, things are much easier (and cheaper), but only if you have a verified account or at least 10,000 followers. If this is the case, you can add links to your Story in a few quick steps:
- When you take a picture, tap the link icon at the top of the screen.
- Tap the + URL button.
- Paste the link you want to add.
When you use a link in your Story, everyone who sees the Story will have the “See More” option to open the link by swiping up.
As you can see, sending Instagram links is simpler than it seems. All it takes is a few taps, and you can share Stories and profiles wherever you want.
