Unfortunately, TikTok no longer shows users who visits their profiles. We’ve left the instructions on how to do it below for anyone still using an older version of the app.
But, for those of use who updated our TikTok app we can only see who added us, commented, liked, and shared our videos and posts. If the other user doesn’t interact with our content we’ll never know they were there.
We aren’t sure if TikTok will ever bring this feature back, but like most other social media services available today, we can’t see who’s checking us out, taking screenshots, or even stalking our profiles.
If you’re looking for analytics type information (not who is watching, but how many people are watching) TikTok did introduce the TikTok Pro accounts. This provides information on how many people you’re reaching and gives you insight into which videos are performing better so you can get more followers!
Let’s Get Started!
Before we delve into the exact steps you need to follow to check who’s viewing your profile, let us get acquainted with the app first. Some of you who’ve never used TikTok might find it hectic and all over the place, but fear not, there’s nothing there you can’t navigate.
The first thing you’d need to use TikTok is a pair of headphones. Music is essential to the app’s success, and it’d be sterile without it. So we recommend you get a pair of headphones handy before downloading the app.
There’s no need to create an account on the app if all you want to do is browse videos. But we guess that you’re here because you want to post your content, as well. To become able to post your content, you should create an account using either your email, your phone number, or your Facebook account.
Once you sign in, the app will assign you a generic username. You can change it later by tapping on the profile icon located in the lower right-hand corner of the app. It looks like a little person and says ‘Me’.
Click on Edit Profile, and you’ll get options to change your picture, bio, and even set a default TikTok Profile video.
Now that you’ve created your profile, you’re all set to post your videos. Just tap the Plus icon on the bottom of the screen and the camera will open. A red button will then appear; tap on it to start recording a video clip. You can add a song before you start recording if you want to lip-sync, dance, or do something else. TikTok also allows you to skip this process and add a song later.
How Do I Check My Profile Views?
Unfortunately, TikTok’s latest update completely removed our ability to see who is checking out our profiles. Although, some of you may still have an older version of the app, we’ve left the instructions here for you.
With the app navigation and video creation out of the way, let’s get to the profile views. Here are the two simple steps you need to follow to find out who’s checking you out!
Open your TikTok profile and navigate to the Notification tab. You can do so by clicking on the Inbox button on the bottom bar of the screen.
Here you’ll see all your notifications. TikTok will present you with a message along the lines of “[user] and many others checked your profile yesterday.”
Tap on this message to see who viewed your TikTok profile yesterday. You’ll see a list of user profiles with their TikTok pictures. These are the people who viewed your profile the day before.
If you want to know who viewed your profile today, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
How to View Profiles Anonymously
There may be times when you’d like to view someone’s TikTok content without alerting them. If you’re logged in to your TikTok account and use the app to search for a certain profile, it will notify them that you were checking out their content the next day.
You can always like or comment on their videos letting them know you’re only checking their profile to enjoy their content. Assuming that’s not creepy, there’s no need to worry about viewing someone else’s TikTok content.
If you’d like to remain anonymous, you’ll have to view their profile when you’re not logged into your account. You will have to use the application to do this, the web browser version of TikTok does not allow you to search for another user. To search up a profile do this:
- Visit your profile on TikTok and click the three horizontal dots in the upper right-hand corner
- Scroll down and click ‘Logout’
- Confirm that you’d like to sign out of your account – Be sure you know your username and password so you can log back in
- Go to the home page of TikTok and click the magnifying glass that says ‘Discover’ at the bottom of the screen
- Type the username of the account you’re looking for and hit enter
Once you’ve located the account you’re interested in, you can view all of the users’ content anonymously. If you don’t find their account, it’s likely because it’s set to private.
TikTok’s Privacy Settings
Like every other social media service, TikTok is happy to help its users maintain privacy. There are several options available in the settings of the app. If someone, in particular, is viewing your account and you don’t like it you can block them. If you prefer your privacy, you can set your account to private.
To update your privacy settings, do this:
- Click on the profile icon in the lower right-hand corner of the app
- Tap on the three horizontal dots in the upper right-hand corner
- Toggle the option for ‘Private account’ on so it turns green
After you’ve done this, only those who you accept follow requests from can view your content. Of course, that also means you can see them snooping after 24-hours too!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see how many times someone viewed my profile?
TikTok does not tell you how many times someone viewed your profile. The only way to know if someone is visiting your profile often is if they do it several times over a longer time period. Because TikTok updates your viewers every 24 hours, it would be safe to assume that if someone checked your profile page multiple times over the course of several days you’d notice the renewed notification for each day.
Can I see who is watching my TikTok videos?
No. TikTok will provide you with a number of views but not specifically who is watching. These stats are more for analytics (monitoring your success) rather than catching a profile stalker.
With TikTok being one of the fastest-growing apps in the world, it’s only natural that you’d want a piece of the cake too. And why not, because it’s so much fun! With elements of Snapchat, Vine, Twitch, and Instagram all rolled into one, TikTok is the perfect app for you to share your talents with the world.
If, however, you found any problems downloading the app on your phone or had trouble finding out who viewed your TikTok profile, don’t forget to tell us in the comments. Also, let us know if TikTok is as much fun as it claims to be, or whether there are similar, more user-friendly apps.
