How to Tell If Someone Viewed Your TikTok Video
If you frequently post content on a video-based social platform such as TikTok, keeping track of your account’s analytics and stats might become necessary in order to maintain ample growth and engagement.
Unfortunately, you can’t keep track of stats such as which specific users view your video on TikTok. There used to be a workaround that you could use, where you could see the people who visited your profile and use that to get an idea for who was engaging with your videos. However, unlike what other websites would have you believe, the feature is no longer present in TikTok – it was removed from the app sometime in early 2020, for reasons unknown. TikTok never announced their removal of the feature, nor did they explain why they did so, so we are only left to speculate about when and why they did so. The good news is, nobody will be able to tell if you’re viewing their profile or not, and you don’t even have to block them to keep them from seeing!
Beyond being able to see who viewed your profile and videos, however, there are a number of other useful analytics you can use to help maintain a healthy and growing TikTok profile, as well as make changes as needed in order to better fit your channel’s following. This will involve a few steps including changing your account to a “Pro” account and going into the Analytics page to see and analyze your statistics. Below, I’ve included a tutorial and explanation on how to view those analytics, as well as why they’re useful.
See Video Views
Even if you can’t inspect all the users who viewed your video, you can still keep track of your video views. If you want to go viral on TikTok, then keeping track of your views is a necessity: while all videos appear on the For You page, TikTok determines which videos appear more through a complex algorithm that takes into account the amount of views versus the amount of likes and comments.
Thankfully, you can keep up with your video views easily via your own profile page. Just follow these instructions:
- Launch the TikTok app.
- Tap the ‘Me’ icon at the bottom-right of the screen. You’ll reach your personal profile screen.
- If you’re not there already, select the ‘Timeline’ icon (6 vertical lines) below the ‘Edit Profile’ button to go to your videos.
- You’ll see the number of views at the bottom-left corner of each posted video. This can be a useful indicator as to how much traction your video is getting as well as how popular it is.
If you’re unhappy with the number of views, you can employ certain tricks such as utilizing relevant hashtags, taking advantage of current trends, making sure your video is engaging, and more. We’ll cover those below.
Viewing Your TikTok Channel’s Analytics
If you’d like to view your channel’s statistics and analytics, you’ll need to turn your TikTok account into a TikTok Pro account. Despite the name, TikTok Pro accounts do not require a monthly payment or subscription – it merely tells TikTok that you’re a user who’s interested in your analytics and engaged in actively growing your channel. We’ve outlined the steps you’ll need to go through in order to activate these features below.
- Navigate to your personal profile by tapping the “Me” button at the bottom right of the app.
- Tap the three dots in the top right corner to access your profile’s settings.
- Tap the “Manage Account” option at the top of the menu.
- Hit the “Switch to pro account” option highlighted in red at the bottom of this menu.
- Hit “Next” when it tells you about what exactly a Pro account is. We’ve already hopefully covered that in this article!
- TikTok will prompt you to choose a category for your account in order to further customize analytics for you. However, as of May 2020, these custom analytics have not yet been implemented, so pick whichever category is most relevant to you and move on.
- TikTok will prompt you to put in your gender. If you’re not willing to do so, or if this is a company account, pick “Prefer not to say”.
- Congratulations! Your TikTok Pro account is now activated, and you can view your analytics and statistics, as seen below.
To view your analytics, merely head back to the settings (profile -> three dots in the top right) and pick “Analytics”. The analytics page offers you an assortment of views, which provide insights into various parts of your TikTok account.

Why Are TikTok Analytics So Important?
Being able to cater your content to your audience is incredibly important, as it can mean the difference between gaining and losing followers. Even as a small, budding creator on TikTok, it’s wise to keep an eye on your analytics, so you can see which of your videos has the best engagement, what kind of content is doing well on your profile, who and where your audience is, and so much more. Catering your content to your audience by doing more of what works is always a failsafe strategy to grow your TikTok following into the profile of your dreams.
Be Careful with Public Videos
Although having plenty of views is exciting and may feel really good, it’s always important to keep your content appropriate and safe. Posting inappropriate content may get your videos taken down and your profile banned. If you’re posting a video that you wouldn’t want just anyone to see, it might be wise to switch your profile to private and restrict who can follow you. However, if you’re looking for some fun, family-friendly content to post, consider doing one of the many TikTok challenges out there to grow your fanbase.
