How to Edit Posts in WeChat
One of the most popular instant messaging apps in Asian countries, WeChat has come to prominence in other parts of the world as well. It lets you do lots of things and upload lots of different file formats, but it still doesn’t let you edit posts.
However, there is a way to recall messages after sending, as well as some other things that you most likely didn’t know about.
Recall and Edit a Message
Although this is an old function, there’s a chance some users don’t know about this. After sending a message, you can recall it, but also edit it afterwards.
First off, to recall a message, tap and hold it until a menu pops up, then select “Recall.” You will see a notification that says “You’ve recalled a message” and a “Re-edit” button. Tap on the latter to fix and edit the message and resend it.
There are Moments settings for each user. In other words, you can choose not to show your Moments to certain users, or hide theirs from the Moments section. To do this, find the user in the feed whose options you’d like to change, then tap and hold their profile picture for a few seconds until a new menu pops up. Select “Moments Options” here and make the desired changes.
Edit Photos Before Sharing
WeChat comes with a photo editor of its own. It can help edit your images, but only before you share them. Just imagine a version of the iOS photo editor that’s integrated directly into WeChat, because that’s what it looks like.
Add a Post to Favorites
WeChat lets you add anything you want to your favorites section. You can add images, posts, documents, voice memos, and locations. Sharing and syncing these is also possible, even between multiple devices.
Save a Video

Hold until you see the “@(person’s name),” as that’s the sign used to tag someone.
Change a Post’s Privacy
Similarly to Facebook, you can choose a sharing setting for each post you upload. When sharing a post, you’ll see a “Share to” option. You can choose between “All,” “Private,” “Share to,” and “Don’t Share.”
The “Share to” option lets you choose with whom you want to share your while the “Don’t Share” option lets you prevent people from seeing it.
See Your Transactions
WeChat also lets you see the transactions that you’ve made in the past. To access them:
- Open the “Me” tab in WeChat.
- Select the “Wallet” option.
- Tap on the three dots that are located in the screen’s top-right corner.
- Choose “Transactions.”
