How to Check Your Logged In Devices on Instagram

Have you noticed anything strange going on with your Instagram account recently? If you are noticing unusual activity, such as your likes on posts you’ve never seen before, your account might be compromised.

If only there were a way to check logged in devices on Instagram. Well, luckily, there is. You can look at the locations and the type of devices that logged in to your Instagram account. Then, you can deny these devices access or even change your Instagram password.

Read on for detailed steps on how to take these precautions on Instagram and stay safe.

Precautions

If you are cautious with your sensitive information and social media accounts, you’ll be safe most of the time. When you are logging into your Instagram account on a Wi-Fi network other than your own, don’t allow your device to remember the password.

Also, remember to log out of your Instagram account if you were using it somewhere else, like your friend’s house. All people have sensitive information on their Instagram accounts, so staying cautious should be a priority.

Sometimes, hackers can crack your password and abuse your Instagram account even when you’re super careful. So, if you notice anything strange, you should check logged in devices immediately. Keep reading, because we’ll explain that in the following paragraph.

How to Check Logged in Devices

You can check logged in devices on your Instagram account using your computer or your mobile device. Let’s start with the PC.

On Your Computer

If you are a PC user, you know that many options, like chat, are limited to mobile devices. However, you can check logged in devices from your computer. Follow the steps:

  1. Log into your Instagram account through a browser.
  2. Click on the Profile tab at the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Next, click on the Settings.
  4. Now choose Login Activity.
  5. A list of logged-in devices will appear, alongside their locations. Click on the arrow down button and click Log Out if you don’t recognize the device.

You can remove these devices individually, or you can choose to change your IG password. We’ll get to that in a bit.

On Your Mobile

Most people use Instagram apps on their iOS or Android devices. The process is slightly different than on computers. Follow the steps to check logged in devices on your mobile phone or tablet:

  1. Start the Instagram app on your phone.
  2. Select the profile icon.
  3. Choose the Hamburger icon at the top right of your screen.
  4. Choose Settings.
  5. Now tap on Security.

  6. Choose Access Data.
  7. Scroll down to Account Activity and select Logins.

  8. You can also check Logouts right below.

Unfortunately, on mobile, you will only see the login and the logout times and dates. There are no device names or locations. It seems that you should check logged in devices on Instagram on your computer instead of mobile devices. That way, you’ll get more information on whether or not an imposter is using your account.

How to Change Your Instagram Password

You should change your Instagram password as soon as you notice something fishy going on. That’s easy to do, but make sure to fetch your old password because you will need it to confirm the password change.

On Your Computer

The path for changing the password is slightly different than when accessing Login Activity, but you can also change your password from this window. On the list of logged-in devices, tap on the “This Wasn’t Me” button.

Instagram will prompt you to change your password so all the other devices can be disconnected, excluding the computer you’re using at the moment. Just enter your old password, your new password, and confirm the new password.

Finally, confirm the prompt saying that your password will be changed. That’s the safest option if you think your IG is compromised.

On Your Phone

On your phone, you will have to straight-up change your password. Follow the steps:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your device.
  2. Go to the Profile menu.
  3. Tap on the Hamburger menu and Select Settings.
  4. Select Security, and then tap on Password at the top of the screen.
  5. Enter your current password, new password, and confirm the new password. Confirm the changes.

That’s it. All other devices will be logged out, and only your phone will remain logged in on Instagram. There is also an option to reset your password through Facebook if you forgot the one you use for your Instagram account. Tap on that option in the password change menu if you’d like to do that.

Keep Your Instagram Information Safe

With the knowledge of your Instagram password, others can access plenty of sensitive information about you, including your details, passwords, and more. You should check the logged-in devices using the methods you just learned from time to time.

It also isn’t a bad idea to reset your password every six months or so. That will keep your account safe and rid you of any possible hacking threats. Did someone hack your Instagram? Let us know in the comments section below.
