How to Edit Sent Messages in WhatsApp

Have you ever sent an embarrassing message on WhatsApp that you deeply regret? Lucky for you, WhatsApp lets you edit sent messages. The process is relatively simple, but you need to know a few caveats first.

Learn how to edit messages in WhatsApp in the guide below.

WhatsApp Message Editing: What’s The Catch?

First, you need to know that editing sent messages is different from sending disappearing messages and media on WhatsApp. Edited sent messages will still be there, and you can’t delete them.

Second, you have 15 minutes to edit a message after it is sent. Furthermore, edited messages will be marked “edited” alongside the timestamp. The good news is that the receiver won’t see the original message. You can edit a message unlimited times within 15 minutes of sending it. And since WhatsApp does not store a revision history, the recipient won’t know the original message’s content.

You can edit a sent message on WhatsApp in a one-to-one or group conversation. However, you cannot edit a message sent by another person.
