How to Fix 'Instagram Music Is Not Available in Your Region'

There are many reasons why Instagram is so popular. Sure, Facebook and Twitter have their loyal users, but Instagram is in a league of its own. For one, every celebrity is on there. Even those you won’t find on Twitter.

Also, Instagram always offers new features to promote more engagement among users. One such example is Instagram Music. But what if you post or watch a story and it says that this feature isn’t available in your region?

Why Does This Happen?

Instagram is an endless source of content. It features influencers, music artists, and athletes. Oh, and your friends too, of course. Imagine watching a series of Insta Stories that you’re completely immersed in, only to realize you don’t get to hear the song playing in the story. Or, when you yourself feel like sharing some thoughts and feelings and wrapping them in a song that perfectly encapsulates it. But you can’t because that feature isn’t available where you live.

In all likelihood, those songs are copyrighted, and Instagram has to purchase the licenses for every country separately. For now, therefore, only places that have a lot of Instagram users get to enjoy this fun option. If you live in a smaller country, or you’re just visiting, it means you get to feel a little bit left out. And until Instagram makes this feature available for everyone, what can you do?

Bypass the Issue

If you’re determined on having Instagram Music available in your region, the solution is to use a VPN. Usually, all your internet activity goes through your ISP, which is privy to your IP address. And when you use Instagram, the platform also sees it. However, when you turn to VPN you use a different IP address to make it appear as if you’re located elsewhere. Here’s what you need to do to get Instagram Music:

  1. Uninstall Instagram from your phone.
  2. Download a VPN app to your mobile device.
  3. Reinstall Instagram to your mobile device.
  4. Enjoy the Instagram Music feature in your region.

It sounds simple enough, and really it is. But there are a few things to keep in mind here. For one, the best possible VPN service will cost you a monthly or a yearly subscription. If that’s the route you want to go, just select one of the top-rated VPNs and carry on.

However, if you only need a VPN for the Instagram Music feature, a free version might serve you well. You can download TunnelBear VPN app on both Google Play Store and Apple Store. The free VPN comes with both benefits and downsides. It can do the trick for some minor requirements, but it contains in-app purchases. If you’re looking for more, you’ll probably need to subscribe.

What If You’re Not in the Wrong Region?

It’s one thing to experience the issue of not having Instagram Music if you’re actually in the region where it’s not available. But what if you’re in the US, Germany, France, the UK, or any other place where it’s available? Well, then you’re probably experiencing some kind of a glitch. Here are some things you can do if that happens.

Check for Updates

If the apps on your mobile device aren’t updated automatically, there’s a chance you’re missing out on something important. Instagram, generally, provides regular updates. Often, these include some fun and interesting features. And sometimes, the update will fix whatever’s causing your Instagram issues.

Sign In/Out of the App

This might seem unusual, but signing in and out of Instagram could help. The process gives the app the chance to fully load and reload. No one actually signs in out of the Instagram every time they use it, but occasionally it could be useful. The only potential issue you might encounter is if you blank your username or password, but that’s probably not going to happen.

Uninstall and Then Reinstall Instagram

If you keep seeing that Instagram Music isn’t available in your region, and that shouldn’t be the case, maybe it’s time for drastic measures. You don’t like doing it, but go ahead and uninstall Instagram from your mobile device. And then quickly download it again and see if the problem is solved.

How to Add Instagram Music to Your Story

You might be one of the lucky ones who live in a country where Instagram Music is available. Or, you’ve managed to find a way to make it available, regardless of location. Either way, you might be confused about how to utilize this fun feature. Try this:

  1. Take a lovely nature photo or pick a selfie that really speaks to you.
  2. See the menu bar, on the top of the screen. It’s a smiley square that has one corner peeled.
  3. Select the “Music” option.
  4. Select a song, then choose the part you want to play.
  5. Choose how you want the music to appear on the screen in your Story. It can be lyrics or cover art, or just a small box with the name of the song.
  6. Tap “Done” when you’re finished and post it to your Story.

Music Is Universal

And everyone should have Instagram Music available in their region. It seems only fair. It’s a really good way to find out about new music and appreciate a post even more. Instagram Music also gives you more room for creativity. Nothing conveys someone’s mood better than music. So, try the VPN method if you want to make Instagram Music work. And if it’s already available to you, make sure you have your Instagram updated and running smoothly.

I live in the US I tried everything and it didn’t work. It worked a few times with a free VPN but it still keeps telling I can’t. :(
