How to Make a Drawing Bigger in Snapchat
Drawing has been available on Snapchat for quite some time. It’s a cool way to add a fun flair to your images and posts, but how do you make the drawing bigger?
Snapchat doesn’t vectorize your doodles, so there is no way to increase the size after the fact. But this write-up presents you with a neat trick to make the drawings bigger. Plus, we’ve included a few tips and tricks to make them bigger.
Huge Snapchat Drawings 101
Tap the Snapchat icon to launch the app and take a photo of the thing you’d like to post. The cool thing is that the app allows you to draw on videos as well. And the same tips apply if you want to enhance the drawing on your clip.
To start drawing, tap the pencil icon in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll see the color, saturation, and emoticon icons, but more on them later.
What you need to do is increase the size of the stroke. Place your thumb and index finger onto the screen simultaneously and pinch out. A tiny dot appears in the middle of the screen, and it increases as you pinch out. Stop pinching once you’re happy with the size.
Now, you can draw the doodle. Since you’ve increased the stroke size, be mindful of the screen real estate. That is, figure out where to start and end so that the drawing has the desired effect.
If you make a wrong move, tap on the circular arrow icon at the top right of the screen to undo the action.
Once you’re happy with the design, hit the Send button at the bottom right of the screen. You can save the image and the drawing to your Camera Roll/Gallery or share it to a Snapchat story. The corresponding icons are at the bottom left of the screen.
Depending on the smartphone you’re using, increasing the brush stroke can be fiddly. Make sure both your fingers land on the screen at the same time. Then, don’t lift either one until you’re happy with the brush size. Otherwise, each tap would leave a dot or stroke on the image.
Other Drawing Options
As said, you can change the stroke color and saturation. Move the slider up and down to choose the color you like. There is a large dot pointer to show you the color you’re selecting.
So that you know, you can’t select the entire drawing and change its color after drawing it.
To change the saturation, tap on the palette icon under the color slider. You’ll see that the color slider has dulled out, so tap on it to select the desaturated color.
The cool thing is that you can combine saturated and unsaturated colors to get a cool effect and a bigger drawing. Here’s what you need to do.
Figure out what you want to doodle and where you want to place it. Of course, don’t forget to tweak the brush stroke. Then start by selecting the desaturated color – tap on the palette and move the color slider.
Draw whatever you want to draw, and tap on the palette icon to get the normal saturation. Now, decrease the brush stroke ever so slightly and draw over the desaturated doodle.
This trick adds some depth to your drawing and increases its size a bit. Feel free to experiment with different colors as much as you want.
Finally, you can add a cool emoticon by tapping on the corresponding icon. You can increase the size of the emoticon by pinching out on the screen after selecting it.
You can also draw using emoticons, but it’s tricky to write things that way. Nonetheless, emoticons can be a cool outline for your doodle.
If you tap on the palette icon twice, you get to use the black and white color gamut. The artsy types should find this a great way to add shading and accents to their Snapchat drawings.
To get more accurate and consistent drawings, use a screen-friendly pencil. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a pen with a screen-ready tip.
Can You Make the Text Bigger in Snapchat?
The answer is yes, and the trick is similar to the one for drawings.
Tap on the T icon at the top right of the screen and select Big Text from the pop-up menu. Type your message and select the positioning by tapping on the alignment icon. You’ll find it in front of the large T at the top of the screen.
Next, pinch out on the text to resize it. Unfortunately, this action doesn’t allow you to tilt or bend the text.
Unleash Your Inner Snapchat Artist
It’s a pity that Snapchat doesn’t vectorize your doodles, as it would make resizing the drawings a breeze. But that might change with a future update. And if you’re creative enough, your drawings can be as big and as beautiful as you want them.
