Tinder Image Size

Every social network has different rules for photos. You must have noticed that most lower the quality of photos to make them easier to load. Most people aren’t happy because of this, but it makes Tinder and other platforms much faster and responsive.

When it comes to Tinder, the required dimensions of the images are 640×640 pixels. However, once the photo is uploaded, Tinder is going to zoom in and display it at 600×848 pixels. Its default aspect ratio is 7:10.

What to Do?

This problem usually occurs when you’re trying to upload professional photos (maybe from your birthday party) or pictures taken in the Portrait mode. It can be very irritating but don’t worry because we’ve got you covered. We have three solutions to this situation.

Reduce Quality of Your Photo

You may be afraid to reduce the photo’s quality, but don’t worry because it won’t ruin the picture. Various apps and websites allow you to reduce the quality of your images and make them easier to upload to social media.

Yes, the photo may not be as clear as it is now. However, don’t forget that most people on Tinder aren’t professional photographers. They’re there to chat and learn more about you, not to score your photos. Most of the people won’t even notice the difference, anyway.

Make a Screenshot

If you don’t feel comfortable uploading your photo to a random photography website, you can reduce its quality alone. A home-made version is easy, and it takes only a couple of seconds. All you have to do is open the photo on your phone and then make a screenshot of it.

There you have it! As you know, screenshots have lower resolution than regular photos, and this might be the fastest way to make your selfie suitable for Tinder.

Use Another Photo

If you don’t want to bother with reducing image quality, this may be the best solution for you. We’re sure you have other beautiful photos with fewer pixels. If you don’t have one on your phone, you can always download one from your social media account, as its size was probably reduced.

If you can’t find an adequate photo on your profile, look for the images you’ve sent to your friends in DM, inbox, or WhatsApp. You may find many awesome pictures in old messages.

Additional Tips

If you’ve been using Tinder for a while, you already know some of the rules. Tinder certainly doesn’t require you to dress up and hire a professional photographer to make you a profile photo. However, you have to follow some rules. You can be casually dressed, but you’re still supposed to look decent. Too provocative photos may get reported.

Also, don’t forget to smile! Several studies have shown that people who smile in the pictures seem more approachable and tend to have more matches.

Moreover, you should never upload a photo where your face fills the square from side to side. Also, avoid pictures where you’re too close to the left or right edge. As you know, Tinder will crop the photos, and you don’t want it to crop a part of your face.

The Person in the Photo Is More Important Than Quality

We hope that you’ve managed to fix this issue and upload the photo you wanted. Unless you’re a professional photographer, your smile, and the way you communicate are more important than the pixel count.

Is probably the worst advice i’ve ever heard. Most people on Tinder HAVE professional photographs and whether one likes it or not those are the people you are mainly competing with. Trash article it’s of 0 use to anyone.
